Ancient Egyptian Tourist Attractions

There are many historical sites in Egypt that have won over the hearts of millions. Many people travel to Egypt annually to see the pyramids and many other fascinating sites that have existed for thousands of years.

Today your task is to use the information from the websites below to create an encyclopedia of tourist attractions in Egypt that focus on the countries ancient beginnings.

Accessing each site you will need to choose eight tourist destinations and place them on the map of your worksheet with a picture that helps to identify each site. You will then need to give a description of each place in three or more sentences describing it's historical significance.

*Some websites will repeat tourist sites.

*Make sure the sites you include are ancient (built before 500 CE)

*Please only use these sites and do not click on links outside of them unless instructed to do so.

Website Evaluation

True or False, Wikipedia is where you should get all your internet information from?

Unfortunately, this is not true. Wouldn't it be nice though to have all your valid, relevant and research based information in one spot? As budding Historians you will have to do more than look at Wikipedia.

Todays lesson will help you evaluate the validity (truthful and trustworthiness) of the internet sites you may need to use for research.

When asked please click the link below.

Current Event Websites

Here you will find a variety of websites that can be used for research for the Current Event quarterly projects. These are not the only resources that may be used but are a starting point.

Please remember that the articles must not be more than two years old and articles used must show a direct relationship to ancient history in some form. Ancient, for my class, means more than 1000 years ago. Articles need to be at least a page or longer in order for there to be enough information to complete your assignment.

Examples of appropriate articles can include- a new ancient writing form found, new equipment used in archaeological digs, new evidence suggesting more information about an ancient civilization, pottery found, etc.

Encyclopedia entries are not a current event article.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE SPEAK TO ME.
