OTZI THE ICEMAN- Historical Detective Work



Here you will find the links and questions for today's lesson.

 Put your historical detective hat on because today you will investigate a possible murder!!!


First-Class discussion- as we talk, answer the questions in this section.

Second-  Webquest- Using the site below, investigate the life and death of Otzi the Iceman. On your paper answer the questions.

 Third- Using the historical information that you learned from your research, create a believable story about how the iceman died. Describe his last day, what events may have led up to his death, his last meal, things he would have encountered and his environment. This description must be historically accurate based on evidence. This description must be more than 8 sentences. Finally, in the box provided draw a picture of Otzi on his last day alive.

Ancestry Projects!


ANCESTOR DETECTORS: A GENEALOGY PROJECT
DATE DUE 11/22


PURPOSE: THIS PROJECT IS TO HELP YOU FIND OUT WHERE YOU COME FROM AND HOW YOU CONNECT TO THE PAST, SPECIFICALLY YOUR PAST. DIRECTIONS: YOU ARE TO CREATE A FAMILY ANCESTRY/GENEALOGY PROJECT. WITHIN THIS PROJECT YOU HAVE FULL ARTISITC CREATIVITY (meaning you can create whatever you want) AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THESE CRITERIA:

1. YOU MUST GO BACK FOUR GENERATIONS (not including your own) THIS MEANS YOUR GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENTS GENERATION

2. YOU ARE TO INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE ANCESTOR FROM EACH GENERATION. YOU MAY GO FURTHER BACK IN TIME, BUT ONE ANCESTOR FROM EACH GENERATION MUST BE INCLUDED. Who do you want to include? What family members do you want to highlight?

3. YOU MUST HAVE TEN ANCESTORS TOTAL. YOU WILL NEED TO INCLUDE ONE PERSONAL FACT ABOUT EACH PERSON, WHERE THEY WERE BORN, WHEN THEY WERE BORN AND THEIR NAME- 40 facts total! You will need to talk to relatives, look through photo albums and research your family history to complete this project.

4. A SHORT ESSAY (on another piece of paper, not on the actual project) THAT DESCRIBES HOW YOU CONNECT TO YOUR ANCESTORS. (Ideas…think about similarities, differences, relationships to them, how they lived, how you live, how what they did made a difference in your life) MINIMUM 10 SENTENCES. Essays will be read aloud in class and turned in to me so it needs to be legible and not attached to what you create.

5. YOU NEED TO PRESENT THIS TO THE CLASS

6. CREATIVITY COUNTS!

FORMATS CAN INCLUDE (but are not limited to) THE FOLLOWING…POWERPOINTS, FAMILY TREE ON A POSTERBOARD, A SONG, A BOOKLET etc…

BE CREATIVE! THIS IS YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR HISTORY, HOW DO YOU WANT TO SHOW IT?!?!?
